New Zealand fast bowler Jacob Duffy appears very excited about the prospect of playing against legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli. Notably, Duffy and Kohli shared a dressing room while playing for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the 2026 IPL.
Ahead of the fifth T20 match against India, Duffy remarked that it would be fun to play against Kohli. The five-match T20 series between New Zealand and India concludes on Sunday, November 1st, followed by a five-match ODI series beginning on November 4th. The two players will be seen competing against each other during these encounters.
Jacob Duffy makes a significant statement
Speaking ahead of the fifth T20 match against India, Duffy said, “I ran into him (Virat Kohli) yesterday (October 31st). He was in the gym, so it was great to catch up with him there; he was incredibly kind to me.”
“Obviously, he is a massive icon in India—a true megastar. The fact that he remains so grounded and was so welcoming to overseas players like us at RCB was truly fantastic. I am very grateful for that. Having shared a dressing room with him, it’s going to be a lot of fun to play against him now.”

Reflecting on playing in India, Duffy added, “We talked quite a bit about the finer details—specifically regarding some of the unique pitches in India. Since certain surfaces behave quite differently, he shared insights on the specific lines and lengths to bowl on such tracks. He explained how he personally makes adjustments and offered advice on how I might adapt as well. Those small, practical tips from him were incredibly valuable.”
